Vicki always has had a love of animals. From the time she was place on the back of the family babysitter, a small pinto named Apache, she has a special connection to horses. Growing up in Roy Utah as the youngest of 8 she spent her time camping and hunting. Her brother Cork entered her in the first queen contest with the Roy Jr Posse and as they say the rest is history. After Jr Posse a friend told Vicki, she didn’t think High School Rodeo and queening wouldn’t be a good fit and that’s all it took to move her to try. They both would have a good laugh at that later down the road Vicki competed in high school and college rodeo. Qualifying for the high school state finals in barrels, poles and breakaway as well as being the 2nd runner up to the queen and winning Miss Congeniality. She earned her associates degree from Weber State and a business degree from Western Governors University. Vicki held the queen titles of West Jordan Western Stampede, Diabetes Round up Queen and continued to her goal to be Miss Rodeo Ogden and Utah. It just took her a little bit longer than planned. In 1985 she accomplished these goals. Being voted Miss Congeniality and earning the Miss Rodeo Utah title together was a humbling experience. Vicki represented Utah at the first National Finals Rodeo to be held in Las Vegas Nevada in 1985 as a Miss Rodeo America contestant. No one was more surprised than she was when her name was called as Miss Rodeo America 1986 along with the appearance award. Through her travels as Miss Rodeo America, she was able to attend rodeos all over the United State along with visiting New Orleans and Australian checking them off her bucket list. During the Australian finals for the first time four international rodeo queens, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and America, meet at the in Brisbane, Australia. Vicki, her husband Craig, and son Cody live in West Haven with a few cats, a really big dog and two horses. Vicki continues to compete with the Rocky Mtn Riders in the Utah Western Riding Club Association. She was the 2nd women voted in as the organizations state president in 62 years.
